AUTHOR EVENT/ POETRY READING JOHN MANESIS THURSDAY,
AUGUST 26 ~ 7 P.M. ZANDBROZ ~ FARGO John Manesis , a retired physician and poet,
will read from his recently published, Consider, If You Will, on Thursday,
August 26th at 7 P.M. In this diverse collection of sonnets, he examines nursery rhymes, children's stories, and
classic myths, casting them in different lights. Were Humpty Dumpty, Little Bear, Old King Cole, and Icarus who they
seemed to be? John Manesis is the author of two other books of poetry-With All My Breath, and Other Candle Light.

the histories of both the United States and the Middle East over the last one hundred years, this is a love story that crosses
five generations with wit and warmth.Alia Yunis’ novel, The
Night Counter (Random House) has been critically acclaimed by the Washington Post, Entertainment Weekly, and several other
publications. It was also chosen as a top summer read by the Chicago Tribune and Boston Phoenix. The Boston Globe has called
it “wonderfully imaginative...poignant, hilarious.” Alia was born in Chicago and grew up in the U.S., Greece,
and the Middle East, particularly Beirut during its civil war. She has worked as a filmmaker and journalist in several cities,
especially Los Angeles. Her fiction has appeared in several anthologies, including The Robert Olen Butler Best Short Stories
collection, and her non-fiction work includes articles for The Los Angeles Times, Saveur, SportsTravel Magazine, and Aramco
World. She currently teaches film and television at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi.
